Abstract
Inspection is a very important task for quality control in a factory. The manual detection of surface defects is a time consuming and tedious task because defects are usually small and the area to be inspected is large. Image analysis is necessary to solve this problem. In this paper, morphological image processing for greylevel inspection is illustrated and applied on typical defects encountered on ceramics and textile material. A short introduction to mathematical morphology is also provided.© (1994) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
