alpha-Actinin Promotes Polymerization of Actin from Profilactin

Abstract
The effect of rabbit skeletal muscle .alpha.-actinin on calf spleen profilactin was analyzed. Addition of submolar ratios of .alpha.-actinin to a profilactin sample leads to a profilin-actin complex dissociation and actin polymerization. The newly formed filaments are cross-linked by .alpha.-actinin.
