Abstract
The Gilvarry theory of the constants in the Simon melting equation is modified and extended. One novel feature of the model is a melting curve which approaches a finite temperature asymptotically, apparently due to the failure of the Lindemann relationship. Further possible modifications of the theory are discussed.Keywords
