Abstract
A comparison of the variance of regression between radiographic kidney length or area and autopsy weight in 94 cases showed that the area and weight of single kidneys are most closely correlated with the fraction of the variance about the regression line, independent of the area values, 1-r2, being less than 10%. The reasons for the variance, especially physiologic kidney rotation and problems in measuring kidney width are discussed.
