Abstract
Treatment of anaphylactic shock in the rabbit and guinea pig with hypertensin, local anaesthetics, and [epsilon]-amino-caproic acid is described. The most efficacious drug was hypertensin; however, duration of action was short. While local anaesthetics have some efficacy, their usefulness in the treatment of anaphylactic shock seems problematical because their therapeutic margin of safety is low. In the rabbit, [epsilon]-amino-caproic acid had a favorable effect in 60% of cases. In the guinea pig it has some antianaphylactic efficacy.
