Abstract
Experimental sensitization (S) of eczematous type by contact with DNCB under various conditions was investigated in 276 subjects. The incidence of S, tested with a 2.5/5% DNCB solution in subjects with contact-type eczema or other types, did not offer notable differences in comparison to the healthy control group. The same findings resulted in subjects witn neo-plastic diseases. Several psoriatic patients showed a certain resistance to S. The mode of appearance and diffusion of S after surgical removal of the primary cutaneous focus of irritation, either by excising skin areas or by amputating the entire limb, i. e. in case of Buerger'' s disease, were also studied. When the operation was performed within 24 hour s after contact with the S agent, S did not appear. The phenomenon was observed, however, when the operation was performed 48 hours after contact. Furthermore, it is possible to obtain S by applying the allergen on large skin areas, without epithelium. However, it is difficult to exclude, in the latter case, the eventual contact of allergen with surrounding epithelial structures.
