A Further Study of Electrodeposited Manganese Dioxide Electrodes

Abstract
Manganese dioxide electrodes prepared by electrodeposition on graphite rods were discharged in ammonium chloride electrolyte of pH 7.2 to 7.5. Two discharge products were identified and measured, an oxide with a composition of about , and manganese (II) ion which appeared in the solution. The electrical output was accounted for satisfactorily by these two products. Atmospheric oxygen had only a small effect on the discharge.
