Abstract
Presentation of Case First admission. A 38-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of a right pleural effusion.She was well until 17 years earlier, when right cervical and axillary lymphadenopathy was found. Microscopical examination of a biopsy specimen of a lymph node, obtained elsewhere, was reported to show undifferentiated carcinoma; the appearance of the cells was believed consistent with melanoma, undifferentiated bronchial carcinoma, or embryonal carcinoma.
