Seborrheic Dermatitis and Butterfly Rash in AIDS

Abstract
To the Editor: The well-known cutaneous manifestations of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), Kaposi's sarcoma, and progressive herpes simplex infection were recognized in the earliest descriptions of the syndrome.1 , 2 The otherwise extreme rarity of these skin conditions makes them conspicuous complications of and markers for the syndrome in the affected populations. More recent observations have suggested to us that a relatively common disorder, seborrheic dermatitis, also occurs with increased frequency and severity in some patients with AIDS.Dermatologic consultation was obtained for 27 (54 per cent) of the first 50 patients who were diagnosed at our medical center as having . . .Keywords
