Metasediments in the Rhiconich group of the Lewisian between Loch Laxford and Durness, Sutherland

Abstract
Metasedimentary quartzite and calc-silicate rock are of widespread distribution in the Rhiconich group of the Lewisian between Loch Laxford and Durness. Field relations, mineralogy and chemical composition are used as criteria for recognition, the mineral assemblages being indicative of amphibolite facies metamorphism. The calc-silicate rock has a mineralogical and chemical composition consistent with metamorphosed marl.
