A Randomized Trial of the Efficacy and Tolerability of the COX-2 Inhibitor Rofecoxib vs Ibuprofen in Patients With Osteoarthritis

Abstract
NONSTEROIDAL anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly used to treat the pain and inflammation caused by a variety of clinical disorders, including osteoarthritis (OA). The clinical effects of these drugs result primarily from the inhibition of the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), the first step in the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins.1
