Family support programs: Catalysts for change.

Abstract

The burgeoning family support movement is described in the historical context of the social service and self-help modalities that presaged it and in the context of the current social and political conditions in which it has arisen and to which it is, in part, a response. Challenges faced by the family resource movement, and implications of the movement for professionals and for the present human service delivery system, are examined.
