Abstract
This paper suggests an alternative explanation of recent inelastic incoherent neutron scattering data from hydrogen adsorbed upon Raney nickel. It is shown that neither of the proposed models predicts intensities in agreement with that found experimentally and other arguments have to be used to decide on the best model. The data can be explained by postulating the presence of singly bound protons at the nickel surface, so there is no necessity to propose multiple bonded protons, which are expected for theoretical reasons to be less stable.
