Factors Influencing Metabolic Activity of Bull Spermatozoa. I. 37, 21, and 5° C

Abstract
The aerobic metabo-lic activity of spermatozoa was compared in isotonic phosphate and saline diluents at 37, 21, and 5[degree]C. Fructolysis decreased more at 37 to 21[degree]C than it did at 21-5[degree]C; whereas, O2 consumption dropped more rapidly at lower temperatures. Marked differences between 9% NaCl and phosphate diluents at 37[degree]C were not seen at either 21 or 5[degree]C.
