STEROID-INDUCED CONVULSIONS IN EXPERIMENTAL ANIMALS1

Abstract
High doses of Reichstein’s Cpd. S cause tonic-clonic convulsions in rats and cats. Both the clinical and EEG data clearly indicate that limbic structures are predominantly involved in these convulsions. The progression of the discharges is always initiated in the hippocampus. Possible mechanisms for these seizures are discussed which may be related to the development of convulsions in man.
