Abstract
In the last years, a controversy has developed as to whether the ferroelectric phase transition in BaTiO3 is of displacive or order-disorder type. Central to the resolution of this question is the interpretation of the A1(TO) phonon spectrum of the tetragonal phase which seems to remain in the cubic. Keywords
