Some observations of discontinuous yielding phenomena in copper, nickel and aluminium after shock loading

Abstract
The response to tensile deformation of copper, nickel and aluminium after subjection to planar compressive shock waves and after cold-rolling has been studied. Yield phenomena observed in such materials have been shown to be consistent with the dislocation multiplication model of discontinuous yielding. From this model, values of the unpinned dislocation densities in the variously treated samples of copper have been calculated.
