The Action of Dry Heat on Wood's Sarcoma

Abstract
The authors have exposed mice, inoculated with Wood''s sarcoma on the tail, to application of heat locally to the tumor (both ordinary, short wave and ultra-short wave diathermy, 42-46[degree]C from 5-60 mins. ). In a considerable number of cases a lasting, local cure was obtained. In another series of expts., a combined heat- and roentgen treatment, each of which was therapeutically ineffective, was examined and a complete cure was obtained in many cases. Histologic examination of tumor tissue treated with heat shows that the heat acts chiefly on other cell elements than those injured by roentgen irradiation. No statistic figures are given except that about 3000 mice were used in the expts.
