Photodisintegration of Helium

Abstract

The electric dipole bremsstrahlung-weighted cross section ${\sigma }_b$ and integrated cross section ${\sigma }_{\mathrm{int}}$ for the photodisintegration of helium have been calculated using the modified Irving wave function. Good agreement has been obtained with the current experimental values: ${\sigma }_b=2.4\mathrm{}\pm 0.15$ mb and ${\sigma }_{\mathrm{int}}=95\mathrm{}\pm 7$ MeV mb. The results have also been compared with the recent calculations of Goldhammer and Valk.
