Evaluation of Cylindrical Electric Grids as Pheromone Traps for Loopers 1 and Tobacco Hornworms 2 , 3

Abstract
Cylindrical electric grid traps baited with synthetic pheromone of the cabbage looper, Trichoplusia ni (Hübner), caught 6–7 times more males than a similarly baited can trap developed specifically for this insect. Also, grid traps baited with virgin female tobacco hornworms, Manduca sexta (L.), were 2–9 times more effective in trapping males than a screenwire pheromone trap designed for this purpose. Moreover, when both attractants were used together on the same grid trap both cabbage loopers and hornworms were captured, indicating that it can be used with at least 2 different pheromones simultaneously.
