Covalent compounds of quadrivalent transition metals. Part II. Chromium(IV) tertiary alkoxides and triethylsilyloxide

Abstract

Chromium(IV) tetra-alkoxides Cr(OR)₄(R = t-alkyl) and Cr(OSiEt₃)₄ have been prepared and their reactions studied. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibilities, electronic and infrared spectra, electron spin resonance, and mass spectra have been measured for Cr(OBu^t)₄ and the results are discussed in terms of a distorted tetrahedral CrO₄ unit.
