Abstract
In a recent epidemiological survey on Japanese encephalitis infection in Sarawak over a 12 month period, it was observed that the increase in population of C. tritaeniorhynchus (Giles) previously reported in October–November (MacDonald, 1967; Hill, 1969) is due to agricultural methods creating new breeding sites. C. tritaeniorhynchus favours stagnating water, particularly the infusions of rotting vegetation formed before planting and also after harvesting.
