Study of Estrogen Production in Women with Hydatidiform Mole

Abstract
Following the intravenous administration of a tracer dose of 6,7-3Hestradiol-17β to 3 women with hydatidiform mole, urine was collected for 6 days. Estrone, estradiol and estriol were isolated from each 6-day urine collection and their specific activities were determined. The specific activity of estriol was slightly lower (13–32 %) than that of estrone or estradiol. Based on the dilution of the injected tracer according to the cumulative specific activity of urinary estradiol, the production rate of estradiol in these 3 subjects was 6.7, 7.4 and 11.0 mg/day.
