Abstract
Using the Mössbauer effect in 119Sn we have measured the isomer shift in compounds of divalent and tetravalent tin with elements of Group VI. The isomer shift is linearly dependent on the values of electronegativity in both series of compounds. The coefficient of this dependence is for tetravalent compounds nearly twice that of the divalent ones. This result is discussed in terms of electron structure of the chemical bonds of the compounds. Keywords
