THE DIAPHRAGM IN DYSTROPHIA MYOTONICA

Abstract
On the basis of the 2 cases of dystrophia myotonica presented here and other clinical findings presented elsewhere, involvements and subsequent elevation of the diaphragm should come to be accepted as a variable feature of this disease. In one case reported by these authors a biopsy of the diaphragmatic muscle showed signs of muscle dystrophy such as atrophic fibers, fibrotic areas and excess adipose tissue.
