Abstract
The acetylcholine circulation time of the chicken at normal body temp. (41.5 C) is about 2.8 sec. When the body temp. is lowered by application of ice packs, the circulation time is increased. When the body temp. is raised with radiant heat the circulation time is decreased. The circulation time is not always related to changes in the arterial pressure which occur as the temp. of the animal is changed; it is related to changes in the peripheral tissues. A discrepancy appears between the time required for the action of acetylcholine on the peripheral blood vessels and on the rate of the heart.
