Myocardial metabolic activity as a determinant of reactive hyperaemia responses in the dog heart

Abstract

The role of myocardial metabolic activity in the regulation of reactive hyperaemia responses was investigated in the open chest dog. Interventions that increase or decrease myocardial oxygen consumption were shown to play a major role in determining the volume of reactive hyperaemia.
