Preliminary Studies on the Life History of Cardiocephalus brandesi Szidat, 1928 (Trematoda: Strigeidae)

Abstract
Adult Cardiocephalus brandesi were recovered from laboratory-raised birds, Rhynchops nigra nigra, Sterna hirundo, S. albifrons and chicks, after being fed metacercariae from Menidia menidia and Mugil cephalus. (Young Phagicola sp. (Heterophyidae) were recovered from skimmers fed only Cyprinodon variegatus.) Penetration experiments indicate the strong possibility of Cercaria nassa Martin, 1945 being the cercarial stage of C. brandesi.
