Abstract
Patients with ureterosigmoid urinary diversions always have some anal leakage of a malodorous mixture of feces and urine, especially at night or when passing gas. Limited continence is obtained only by consciously keeping the buttocks tensed together. The usually high elimination frequency is for the rest of the patient''s life. The universal prevalence of this burdensome liquid fecal incontinence after ureterosigmoidostomy diversion is not well-recognized and should be clearly revealed to the patient before a procedure is chosen.
