Abstract
Rat, rabbit and cat platelets contain the enzyme prophosphatase. This activity is liberated only during lysis. Using the activity of this enzyme as an indicator, platelet lysis in hypotonic saline solutions is shown to start at about 0.2 and 0.5% salt concentration, respectively, for rat and rabbit. Keywords
