Abstract
The Bi lines observed in 460-MeV (lab) Xe + Bi encounters are significantly Doppler broadened. The x-ray line shapes can be calculated using theoretical models for the impact-parameter dependence of the probability of making vacancies in Xe + Bi collisions. The measured line shapes are in good agreement with those derived from values of calculated by Betz et al.
