Experimental myocardial infarction VII: effects of intra-aortic balloon pump counterpulsation on cardiac performance in intact conscious dogs with left ventricular failure due to coronary insufficiency

Abstract
In intact conscious dogs with healing anterior myocardial infarcts due to left anterior descending coronary artery occlusion, severe left ventricular failure was produced by constricting the circumflex vessel. In this preparation intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation effectively reduced the degree of failure present.
