A technique is described for the purification and maintenance in vitro of macrophages derived from mouse and rat fibrosarcomas. Tumor macrophages spread out in the presence of trypsin or collagenase, and their subsequent cultivation in serum-free culture medium resulted in cultures with no tumor cells.
