Precipitins for the Tuberculin Proteins of Acid-fast Bacteria

Abstract
By precipitin tests, the proteins of the human, bovine, and avian tubercle bacilli were distinguishable, those of avian tubercle bacilli [Mycobacterium tuberculosis] isolated from the chicken, the cow, and the hog, and of the Johne''s bacillus [M. paratuberculosis] were indistinguishable; the proteins of 2 unnamed acid-fast bacteria, one isolated from a cow and one from a hog, were distinguishable from each other and from those of the tubercle bacilli and of the Johne''s bacillus. The precipitinogens were the culture filtrates concentrated by ultrafiltration.
