Abstract
The mouse cell line 3T3 is readily transformed in tissue culture by the oncogenic virus, SV40. This cellular transformation proceeds in the absence of replication of the infecting virus. Cells exposed to interferon prior to or immediately subsequent to the viral adsorption period were protected against the transforming effect of the virus. These results support the conclusion that interferon acts intracellularly to block an event essential to cellular transformation.This publication has 23 references indexed in Scilit:
