Vibrational spectra of Cs3Tl2Cl9, Au2Cl6, Nb2Cl10, Nb2Br10, Ta2Cl10, Ta2Br10

Abstract

Raman and i.r. spectral data for the compounds Cs₃Tl₂Cl₉, Au₂Cl₆, Nb₂Cl₁₀, Nb₂Br₁₀, Ta₂Cl₁₀, and Ta₂Br₁₀, together with appropriate normal-co-ordinate calculations, are reported. In the case of Cs₃Tl₂Cl₉ the assignments of Raman-active bands are supported by oriented single-crystal measurements. Vibrational data are also given for the MX₆ ^– species (where M = Nb or Ta; X = Cl or Br).
