Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma, an Angiographic Evaluation

Abstract
Nasopharyngeal angiofibromas have a characteristic angiographic appearance that will allow preoperative diagnosis without the patients being subjected to the dangers of biopsy. Selective carotid angiog-raphy shows the major blood supply of the tumors to be from the internal maxillary and ascending pharyngeal branches of the carotid artery. Sphenoidal branches of the internal carotid artery frequently make a significant vascular contribution. Cryosurgery permits removal of the tumor with a minimum of blood loss and the absence of disfiguring scars, if the principal arterial supply can be controlled.
