Abstract
The Extracranial–Intracranial (EC-IC) Bypass Study was organized and conducted by Henry Barnett and colleagues at the University of Western Ontario and McMaster University under a grant from the National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke. Data were collected from 71 participating centers in North America, Europe, and Japan during the period 1977 to 1982. Patients eligible for the study were randomly assigned to medical and surgical arms, and outcomes were measured. Seven hundred fourteen patients were randomly assigned to medical care, and 663 patients to bypass surgery.The results were presented at the meeting of the World Federation . . .Keywords
