SEPARATION AND CHARACTERISATION OF Δ4-3-KETOSTEROIDS OF THE PREGNANE-SERIES BY MEANS OF THIN-LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY

Abstract

A method is described for the separation and characterisation of thirty-two Δ⁴-3-ketosteroids of the pregnane-series. The method involves thinlayer chromatography on Silica Gel G of the various steroids and of various derivatives thereof, followed by seven in situ colour reactions. Data are presented on the reproducibility of the method.
