Abstract
The equations of strong-coupling theory and its generalizations to noninvariance groups are expressed in terms of the search for positive eigenvectors of the crossing matrices for various scattering processes showing the same intermediate quantum numbers. It is shown that the same baryon isobars which give a consistent solution of these models for pion-baryon scattering also appear consistently in meson-nucleon scattering, with similar coupling strengths. The equivalence of these models to various bootstrap requirements is demonstrated. Keywords
