Abstract
The effective renal plasma flow (ERPF) was determined for each kidney separately on the basis of the [131I]-o-iodohippurate ([131I]OIH) uptake during the second phase of the renogram. This composite uptake was corrected for blood-tissue background, absorption through tissues, and distance from detector (gamma camera, parallel hole collimator) by objective criteria. Plasma was sampled concurrently. The sum of the individual renal results (y) was compared with the total ERPF determined with [125I]OIH in the constant infusion technique (x) in 71 instances, r=0.93, y=0.91x + 21.6.
