Über den Kohlenhydrat-Stoffwechsel in der Niere und im Skelettmuskel von mit Schilddrüsen oder Propylthiouracil gefütterten Ratten

Abstract
In the kidney of propylthiouracil-fed rats the activities of fructosediphos-phate aldolase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and UDPG pyro-phosphorylase are increased, whilst that of phosphopyruvate hydratase is decreased. After feeding thyroid powder, the rate of lactic acid formation from glucose, as well as the activities of phosphofructo-kinase, fructosediphosphate aldolase, phosphoglyceromutase, phosphopyruvate hydratase, "malic enzyme" and glucose-6-phosphatase are increased. In the skeletal muscle of hypothyroid rats the rate of lactic acid synthesis from glucose, glucosephosphate isomerase, triose-phosphate isomerase, glyceraldehydephosphate dehydrogenase, phos-phoglycerate kinase, pyruvate kinase, malate dehydrogenase, UDP glucose-[alpha]-glycogen glucosyltransferase and UDPG pyrophosphorylase activities are reduced. In the muscle of hyperthyroid rats the rate of lactic acid synthesis from glucose and glycogen, and the activities of hexokinase, glucosephosphate isomerase, phosphoglycerate kinase, lactate dehydrogenase, UDPG pyrophosphorylase are elevated. No modification is observed in brain and testicle preparations of propyl-thiouracil- and thyroid-fed rats.
