Polarization ofHe3Scattered fromC12

Abstract
The polarization of He3 particles elastically scattered from C12 has been measured over an angular range 25°<~θc.m.<~74° at 18 MeV and 31°<~θc.m.<~61° at 20 MeV. Double-scattering techniques were used to determine the polarizations. A spin-orbit well depth of greater than 3 MeV is required in order to obtain reasonable agreement between optical-model predictions and the polarization data.
