The influence of the solvent on the biological effect of carotene and vitamin A

Abstract
Different lots of peanut oil and coconut oil varied in suitability as solvents for the biologic testing of vit. A or carotene. The suitability of a particular oil, being independent of the stability of the dissolved substance in the oil, can be detd. biologically only. Quinol is not effective in rendering an inferior oil suitable for the biologic test.
