Relationship Between Bender-Gestalt Test Scores and the Response of Patients with Intractable Duodenal Ulcer to Surgery

Abstract
Sixty-nine patients with duodenal ulcer have been administered the Bender-Gestalt test at or about the time of surgery for intractability, were evaluated 2 years postoperatively, then classified as showing "good" or "poor" surgical results. A marked relationship was found between the Bender-Gestalt test performance and the patients'' responses to surgery. It is suggested that the Bender-Gestalt might well be included as a part of a battery of tests used for predicting surgical success with intractable duodenal ulcer patients.
