Introduzione A partire dalla seconda metà di questo secolo in gran parte dei paesi industrializzati le statistiche sullo stato di salute della popolazione documentano la presenza di due tendenze contraddittorie: la crescita generalizzata della speranza di vita e il progressivo inasprirsi delle diseguaglianze di mortalità e morbilità che separano gli individui in ragione della loro classe sociale.
