Biosynthesis of Parathyroid Hormone

Abstract
(First of Two Parts)INVESTIGATORS concerned with the biologic functions of cell-secreted proteins such as hormones, immunoglobulins, enzymes and plasma proteins have become increasingly interested in the details of protein biosynthesis to learn how the control of cellular production of secreted proteins is geared to their functional roles. Studies of the synthesis of secretory proteins over the past few years have uncovered much new information. The synthesis of secretory proteins involves precursor forms, larger than the molecules ultimately secreted, that are processed to the final cellular products by a series of cleavages and translocation steps that take place within specialized . . .
