Abstract
To the Editor: Running has become one of the most popular forms of exercise, and much is known about its effects on cardiopulmonary function. However, as a runner and a gastroenterologist, I am disappointed to find that so little is known about the gastrointestinal symptoms that I and so many of my friends who run experience. To document these symptoms I surveyed the members of the London Pacers Distance Running Club (London, Ont.). Two thirds of the members run for health, recreation, and enjoyment.
