Abstract
Measurements have been made of the temperature-diffuse scattering of x-rays from a single crystal of copper at 300°K by using crystal monochromated Cu radiation. The measurements were analyzed by the method of Laval and James to give dispersion curves of frequency vs wave vector for longitudinal and transverse waves in the 100, 110, and 111 directions. These results were then expressed in terms of the generalized force constants of the Born theory of lattice dynamics.
