Abstract
Two‐dimensional focusing grating couplers have been produced using holographic interferometry with freely propagating wave fronts. Theoretical considerations lead to an optimized holographic arrangement. Experimental grating couplers with 2.2‐μm focus‐spot diameter have been achieved.Keywords
